Every year, on a weekend early in December, we kick off the start of winter with a flurry of activities around Lake Louise. Some folks spend the whole weekend with us at a local Inn or the Hostel. Others drive out for a single event.
Each year we try to offer cross country, downhill and snowshoe events depending on availability of hosts and demand. Throw in a social event, either a dinner or a meet and greet with appetizers and you have a great weekend to kick off the winter.
Events
Friday
Perhaps a moonlight ski on a local cross country trail. Or an afternoon ski for those who can get to Lake Louise early. Every year looks a little different.
Saturday
No day for kicking back. We always have a menu of events for you to select from. Some of our past adventures!
- Downhill skiing at Lake Louise!!
- Cross country skiing on a local trail.
- Snowshoeing through the woods near Lake Louise to spot some wildlife. Not all who wander are lost.
- Or perhaps an introductory lesson for those new to cross country skiing
Sunday
More events, more fun. Then the drive home, enthused for the start of another winter.
Social Event
On either Friday or Saturday, we arrange some type of social for you to meet new friends and renew old acquaintances,. Each year is different. It may be a fancy dinner at a local restaurant, a simple meet and greet with appetizers and a drink, or a BBQ style dinner.
Note: the variety and selection of events will vary from year to year. Watch for postings on our event calendar and decide what interests you. Sign up through the event calendar for the activities of your choice.
Membership privileges!
- The club arranges a discounted group rate on accommodation at a local Inn, or you may pick and pay for your own preferred accommodation.
- We provide a some form of subsidy - that may be paying for a portion of the dinner or covering the cost of appetizers
